Colleen Ray Corday

Biography

Colleen Corday represents multiemployer pension funds, health and welfare funds, apprenticeship and training funds, and other benefit programs in collaboration with Jim Ray.  Her focus is contribution and withdrawal liability collection matters, including litigation, but is actively involved in all aspects of the law firm’s practice.  Colleen is admitted to practice in the courts of Virgina, the District of Columbia, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, as well as in various Federal courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. 

 

While in law school, Colleen was a member of the Villanova Law Review and had her article, “Fueling the Death Spiral for Workers' Pensions: The Bankruptcy Process and Multiemployer Pension Plans”, published on the Law Review’s online journal, Tolle Lege (58 Vill. L. Rev. Tolle Lege 57 (2014)).  She also represented the law school as a member of the National Trial Competition Team.  

 

She honed her legal skills through practical application representing clients seeking asylum in the United States as a member of the Clinic for Asylum, Refugee, and Emigrant Services (CARES).  As a student attorney in the CARES clinic Colleen won asylum in the United States for her client who was being persecuted in her home country.  She also provided pro bono legal representation to marginalized workers living and working in rural areas of Pennsylvania as a member of the Farmworkers Legal Aid Clinic.  Colleen received Villanova’s Dorothy Day Award for pro bono service for her clinical work during law school.

 

During law school Colleen worked as a Teaching Assistant for Legal Writing and also as a Research Assistant.  She worked as a Judicial Extern for Judge Kevin J. Carey of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware and a Judicial Extern to the Administrative Judges of the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board - Northeastern Regional Office. 

 

Colleen earned her undergraduate degree (Bachelor of Science) at New York University (2009), and her law degree (Juris Doctor) at Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law (2013).
